While there are no formal entry requirements for courses offered by Training Helps, learners are required to demonstrate the following.
Pre-training review
All learners must undertake a pre-training review prior to enrolment or commencement of the course. The review is a questionnaire that identifies your training needs, previous education, training or experience, the relevance of the course to you, and your basic computing skills. It may also be conducted as an interview with a Training Helps staff member, which also helps identify possible credit transfer or RPL opportunities.
It is beneficial to have some industry experience and/or underpinning knowledge and skills to successfully complete a specific course. Some short courses may have prerequisite requirements; these are specified in the course information.
Language, Literacy and Numeracy (LLN)
You must have proficient written and spoken English to successfully participate in the training and complete the course assessment. All learners undertake a short LLN self-assessment before training starts so we can identify whether you need any additional support.
Digital literacy
Learners are expected to have basic computer skills: using a computer, a word processor and the internet.
System requirements
To train online you must have access to:
- A tablet or smartphone (Apple or Android), or a computer with webcam and microphone (laptop or desktop)
- A reliable internet connection
- A valid email account
- A word processor such as Microsoft Word
- A PDF reader such as Adobe Reader
- A scanner or smartphone camera to upload documents for assessment (e.g. a third-party report)
Scanning and printing services are available at outlets such as Officeworks.
Unique Student Identifier (USI)
All learners undertaking a nationally recognised course or unit must hold a Unique Student Identifier (USI) and provide it during enrolment. Without a USI we cannot issue a certificate, Statement of Attainment or transcript. You can create a USI for free at usi.gov.au, and our administration staff can help if needed.
Identification
We are required to authenticate your identity. Please provide a copy of your government-issued photo ID when you enrol, such as a driver licence, proof-of-age card or passport. The ID must show a clear photo and signature.
During the course, learners sign an assessment submission declaration to confirm that submitted work is their own.
